If you are looking for a stroller that is a legitimate contender for the ultimate convertible stroller label, you should strongly consider the Baby Jogger City Select LUX . Because this stroller is, hands down, one of the best convertible strollers on the market. I say this because it has a very sturdy frame and it is very versatile with 20 plus seating configurations. It is a stroller that many parents especially those expecting twins or those planning to have a second baby so soon after the first will love having in the house.

Based on its features, design, and price, it is an excellent convertible stroller in my opinion.

The Review of the Baby Jogger City Select LUX
In this review, I will show you every detail you need to know about this stroller. I will also compare its features with facts I know about convertible strollers. By the end of the review, you will know for sure if it is exactly what you need to get.
LUX seating configurations
This stroller is a supremely versatile stroller. It can accommodate toddlers, infants, and even newborns. It can also accommodate just one kid or can be converted to accommodate two or three kids.
The City Select LUX can be used to accommodate an infant utilizing an infant car seat or a bassinet. You simply need to buy what you want to use and to snap it onto the frame. When your baby hits six months or develops full control of their neck and head, you can switch what you are using with the toddler seat.
In addition to using just an infant seat, a bassinet, or a toddler seat on this stroller, you can convert it into a double stroller in various ways. Check out the stroller’s multiple seating configurations below.
Baby Jogger LUX seating configurations
You can also convert this stroller into a triple stroller by adding a standing or glider board. In total, this stroller has more than twenty seating configurations.
The Baby Jogger City Select LUX is compatible with multiple infant car seats. For example, it is compatible with almost all infant car seats from Chicco and Britax brands. However, to use it as a travel system with any infant car seat, you will need to buy the seat plus adapters.

The main seat or toddler seat on this stroller can be reclined to multiple positions. You simply need to manipulate a lever behind the seat to recline it to the position you want. In addition to the fact that it reclines, the toddler seat also features adjustable leg support. It is adjustable in the sense that it can be shortened or lengthened. In short, you can make this toddler seat comfortable in various ways for your baby.
The reclinable seat on the City Select LUX
For safety reasons, the toddler seat on this stroller comes with a safety harness. The safety harness is a five-point harness. When you secure it, your baby won’t fly out of the seat even if you brake sharply. To protect the baby from pinching, the straps on the harness feature thick padding.
The harness can be adjusted in several ways to get the straps at just the right length for safety and comfort.
The thickly padded five-point safety harness
One thing that is important to note about the Baby Jogger City Select LUX toddler seat is its reversibility. You can reverse this toddler seat. This is brilliant because it means you can have your baby facing you or facing the world. If the stroller is in the double stroller mode you can have your babies facing each other which can be fun for them.
The stroller in the double stroller mode
- Converts from a single to a double stroller; most riding options of any single to double stroller; 25 percentage more riding options than City Select, with the bench seat accessory
- Seats can be front facing, parent facing, or sibiling facing; folding stroller, including auto lock, folds 30 percentage smaller than City Select; hand operated decelerating and parking brake, all in one control
- All terrain stroller features all wheel suspension and locking front swivel wheels for control; telescoping handlebar adjusts to users of different heights; extended UV50 plus canopy with peek a boo window keeps baby shaded
- Multi position reclining seat and rotating calf support easily adjust for baby's comfort; large storage basket and two integrated seatback pockets provide space for baby's extras; seat holds child up to 45 pounds and includes a 5 point stroller harness
- Convertible stroller allows you to customize your ride with accessories like car seat adapters, child's tray, parent console, or weather shield, sold separately; Stroller Height: 16.9 to 42.5 inches
Another thing to note about the seat is its thick padding. The thick padding makes it more comfortable for the baby to sit on even during long strolls. The seat is covered with nice premium fabric. And the fabric is soft, removable, and machine-washable. This is pretty nice since it makes the fabric very easy to clean.
The one disadvantage of this seat is that it is not made for really long term use. Your baby can only use it until they are around three or three and half. This is because it has a weight capacity of 45 pounds and its backrest is not really long. In contrast, some competitor convertible strollers have higher seat weight capacities and bigger-sized seats to accommodate babies until they turn five.
LUX canopy
This stroller, like all other Baby Jogger strollers, has got a decent size canopy. The canopy provides a good shade against the sun and is also made of a material that provides good protection against UV rays. When fully extended, only your baby’s calves and feet will be exposed. Therefore, you can confidently take your baby for a stroll in this Baby Jogger stroller on bright and sunny days without worrying about nasty sunburns and harmful UV rays.
In my opinion, I think the canopy on this stroller is masterfully designed. This is because it can be extended and because it protects against UV rays as I have detailed above. I think another evidence of this canopy’s brilliant design is the size of its headroom. The size is pretty big and it can be increased as the baby grows. In short, what I am trying to say is that as your baby grows tall, they will not find using this stroller to be uncomfortable as is the case with other strollers with little or no growing room.
The well-designed canopy on the City Select LUX
The entire canopy on this stroller can be removed for cleaning. It is attached to the frame using Velcro. So it is easy to remove and reattach.
One of the things I like the most about this stroller’s canopy is its mesh viewing window. The window allows parents to closely monitor their babies without having to stop and go in front of the stroller. The viewing window can be closed using a magnetic closure. This is brilliant because many strollers have got a viewing window with a Velcro closure that is noisy and can disturb or wake up the baby when the window is being opened.
The viewing window with its magnetic closure
City Select LUX – The wheels
The Baby Jogger City Select LUX has perhaps the most versatile wheels on a stroller.
The wheels are four in number – two front wheels and two back wheels. The front wheels can swivel. This makes it easy to maneuver this stroller and cut sharp corners, especially in busy or crowded areas. In case you want to push this stroller over rough terrain, you can lock the front wheels to prevent them from swiveling. This will give you stability and make it easier for you to navigate the stroller over uneven terrain.
The City Select LUX with all-terrain wheels and swiveling front wheels
The four wheels on this stroller are pretty big. This means they can easily move on uneven terrain. However, this does not mean that this stroller is the best for riding frequently on rough terrain as this requires inflatable tires. Inflatable tires are the best for strollers. This is because they absorb shock when you are pushing a stroller over uneven terrain. However, these tires are not that bad either. They are rubberized and, therefore, absorb a bit of shock. They also do not require to be inflated every now and then like inflatable tires.
There was a time a friend of mine brought her daughter over to my place for babysitting in this stroller. After spending like one hour doing nothing at home since I was babysitting, I decided to take the baby for a stroll. We followed a path behind my house that has got cracked sidewalks and a bit of an unbeaten path. I had to take this route because it was the only route to my destination which was a local park. I expected the stroll to be somewhat rough on this route because of the terrain. However, it was nothing like that. The wheels plus the stroller’s suspension system handled the rough terrain like a boss. The suspension totally cushioned every bump and rarely did I feel any crack on the pavement or bump in the handlebar.
In summary, what I am trying to say is that this stroller has got a good set of wheels and a brilliant suspension system that works like a charm.
City Select Lux – The brakes
Unlike most strollers that come with foot-operated brakes, this one has a hand-operated brake. I like hand-operated brakes because of how easy it is to engage them. I also like the fact that on top of being parking brakes, such brakes can also be used to control a stroller when going downhill or when strolling at speed. You cannot do this with a foot-operated brake; you will either fall down or lose control of the stroller.
The hand-operated decelerating and parking brake
Using the hand-operated brake on the Baby Jogger City Select LUX is very easy. You simply need to squeeze it like you would do to the handbrakes on a bicycle. Squeezing this hand-operated brake will slow down the stroller. After bringing this stroller to a halt, you can park it by pushing the handle of the brake in the opposite direction until it locks. This will immobilize the stroller until you unlock the brake.
LUX handlebar
The handlebar on this stroller is quite innovative. It is a telescopic handlebar. It can be set at anywhere between 38.5 and 42.5 inches from the ground. This means a parent of any height can use this stroller without experiencing wrist fatigue as they can simply adjust it to the perfect height.
The telescoping handlebar of the City Select LUX
The telescopic design of this handlebar shows that the manufacturer (Baby Jogger) put a lot of thought into making it. This is also evident in the fact that the handlebar has rubberized rings instead of the commonly used foam padding cover. While foam padding is cushiony, it usually tears very quickly. In contrast, the rubberized rings on this handlebar do not tear quickly. Moreover, they also have a nice texture to them that enhances grip for full control of the stroller.
One important thing I want to mention about this handlebar is that when you extend it, you may feel as if you can use it as a hanger for your handbag or shopping bag. However, do not do this. Because if you do, you will decrease the stability of this stroller. It could even tip over and hurt your baby. Fortunately, you actually do not need to do this because this stroller has got tons of storage room as you will discover a bit later in this review.
LUX steering and ease of use
It is very easy to steer this stroller. This is because it has front wheels that can swivel for sharp turns. The swiveling front wheels can also be locked for stability on uneven terrain.
One thing that makes the Baby Jogger City Select LUX even easier to steer is its all-wheel suspension system. The system cushions the ride and makes the stroller move like a luxury car. So if you are looking for a stroller that is easy to maneuver both in tight spaces and on uneven terrain, get this one.
LUX storage Space
Unlike other Baby Jogger strollers such as the City Mini GT and the City Mini GT2, this Baby Jogger stroller has got tons of room for storage. Its storage basket underneath the main seat is massive. It can accommodate a full diaper bag, a blanket, toys, drinks, and snacks. You can even carry a decent amount of shopping in it.
The best thing about the storage basket is not even its impressive size. It is how easy it is easy to retrieve things from inside it.
The City Select LUX stroller has tons of room for storage
In addition to the main storage basket underneath the main seat, this stroller also comes with additional storage areas on the back of the main seat. One of the storage areas is a zippered pocket while the other is a mesh pocket. You can use either of these pockets to accommodate essentials such as wet wipes, your phone, your wallet, and your keys. Considering how close these pockets are to the handlebar, you can access anything you store in them pretty quickly.
This Baby Jogger stroller also includes another additional storage space in the form of a tote bag.
In addition to the storage basket and the two pockets on the back of the toddler seat, the City Select LUX can have yet another storage space in the form of a tote bag. Baby Jogger makes a special tote bag for this stroller that you can buy separately and attach to it. You can use it to carry your shopping or extra blankets for your kid. However, please note that you can only attach this bag to this stroller’s single version.
As you can see, this stroller has tons of storage space and you can add even more if you want. So if you have been looking for a baby carriage with space, do not hesitate, get this one today.
LUX stroller dimensions
To be honest, this stroller is quite heavy. It weighs over 30 pounds. Therefore, some parents may find it difficult to lift or carry around. However, its weight is the price you have to pay for its very solid frame, its flexible design, and its durability. It is also the price you have to pay for the fact that it is a frame that is designed in such a way that it can be converted to carry more than one baby.
The Select LUX can be utilized to carry even 3 kids at once.
In terms of size, this stroller is not as big as many people expect. It is not as big as double strollers or triple strollers. However, it is definitely bigger than most single strollers. What is fantastic about the size of this stroller is that whether you are using it as a single stroller or as a double or triple stroller, the size of its frame does not change. This means two things. First, it means this stroller does not become difficult to maneuver even when expanded. Second, it means this stroller will still fit through regular doors or elevators, unlike most double strollers that cannot go through regular doors.
Now that you know all about the weight and the size of this stroller, it is time I shared with you information about how this stroller folds. Like all Baby Jogger strollers I know of, this one too can be folded. While folding this stroller is not a piece of cake, it is something that you can get used to with a bit of practice. To fold the Baby Jogger City Select LUX , you need to pull outward two special handles on the left and the right of the stroller. This will make the stroller collapse down. Remember to pull both handles at the same time. If you do not do so, you will find it difficult to collapse and fold this stroller.
The fold size of the City Select LUX .
The fold size of this stroller is very compact compared to the fold size of the original City Select model. This is something that many people who have used this stroller and the original City Select stroller can attest. The fact that the fold size of this stroller is compact makes it easier to transport and lift into the trunk of any vehicle. It also makes this stroller easier to store at home.
To make the fold size of this stroller even more compact, you can simply remove the wheels.
As I mentioned a few moments ago, this stroller is not the easiest to fold. While this is true, unfolding this stroller is something you can do pretty quickly within just a couple of seconds.
As it is evident from the statements above, this stroller has a more compact fold size compared to the original BJ City Select stroller. This makes it much more convenient to transport or store. Its fold size is even smaller than the fold size of competitor strollers like the UPPAbaby CRUZ and the UPPAbaby VISTA.

Assembling the stroller
This stroller is quite easy to assemble. This is what I gathered from reading dozens of reviews of other parents who have purchased it and used it. It is easy to assemble because everything just snaps in. In about ten minutes, you can have the whole unit assembled and ready to hit the streets or your local park.

What other moms and dads think about this stroller
As is my custom, I checked out the reviews posted on Amazon.com by parents about this product. I always do this to find out what other moms and dads are saying about a stroller. As at the time I am publishing this post, the product has well over 50 reviews. And all the reviews are kind of positive. However, it is fair to note that a number of reviewers did point out some drawbacks.
So what do parents think about this stroller? Well, most of them like the fact that it is nimble and easy to maneuver. Most of them also like its brilliant suspension system, its versatility, and how its wheels effortlessly handle slightly uneven terrain. Most parents also love how excellently designed the stroller is and the fact that the handlebar can be adjusted. But as mentioned several parents also noted a few drawbacks. The most persistent complaint was regarding the position of the handbrake and the quality of the fabric used.
Available Color Options
The Baby Jogger City Select LUX is available in six color options. All the available color options are natural and dark. This is amazing because it means they do not reflect light during sunny days and make strolling unpleasant for both the parent and the baby. Below are the available color options. Some of the color options are more expensive than the others.
The Baby Jogger City Select available color options
The Warranty
Compared to most strollers out there that have no warranty, this one is pretty special. It has two warranties. A 1-year warranty on the seat and canopy fabric and an industry-best lifetime warranty on the frame. There are obviously terms and conditions for the two warranties but that’s beside the point. And the point is that this stroller is protected by warranty. In my opinion, this shows the confidence the company has in its craftsmanship.

The Accessories
The Baby Jogger City Select LUX is compatible with many accessories that can be separately purchased to increase its functionality. The accessories include car seat adapters, a belly bar, a child tray, a parent organizer, a beverage holder, a bug canopy, a shopping tote, a standing board, a bench seat, a pram kit, and a second seat kit.
I love all these accessories. My only wish is that Baby Jogger should have included all of them in one package with the stroller. Because buying them separately feels so wrong to me. Nevertheless, I have in the past bought accessories to improve the functionality of some strollers I have owned. If you opt to buy this stroller, you may also have to buy some of the accessories to improve its functionality.
This is the second seat kit. The kit has the seat itself and adapters. You should buy this if you want to convert this stroller into a twin stroller. The price of the second seat kit varies based on the color version. Find it here on Amazon
This is the pram kit. The kit includes a pram/ bassinet. You should buy this if you want to use your City Select LUX stroller to carry a newborn or infant baby. The price of the pram kit varies based on the color version. Find it here on Amazon
This is the bench seat. It has a capacity of sixty-five pounds. It allows you to use this stroller to carry an older child. You should buy it if your baby has an older sibling younger than five. Find it here on Amazon
This is the standing board accessory. Like the bench seat above, adding it allows you to carry or give a ride to an older kid. Get it if your baby has an older sibling who is younger than five. Find it here on Amazon
This is the shopping tote. You can use it to expand the storage space/ capacity of your City Select Stroller. Find it here on Amazon
This is the bug canopy and it is a must-have if you live in an area that has seasonal bugs. With this canopy deployed, your baby will be protected from the bugs as it encloses all the open spaces around the toddler seat. It also provides protection against UV rays. The best thing about it is that it does not prevent your child from seeing since it is translucent. It also does not prevent them from breathing if you were wondering as it is a mesh fabric canopy. Find it here on Amazon
This is the beverage holder sold by Baby Jogger as a compatible accessory to the City Select LUX . The best thing about it is that it can be expanded to hold a bottle or cup of any size. And you can attach to any side of the stroller to keep it within reach. Find it here on Amazon
This is the parent organizer aka parent console. It is something that you buy to attach to the handlebar and so that it can hold your essentials within reach. With it, you do not have to bend or crouch to get your phone, wallet, or keys from the storage basket underneath the seat as you will just hold them nearby. Find it here on Amazon
This is the Snack tray. This is an essential accessory if you want something to hold your baby’s snacks and toys within their reach. Find it here on Amazon |
A Comparison of the City Select LUX and the original City Select
The City Select LUX is essentially a luxury and upgraded model of the City Select baby carriage. The new stroller features a couple of improvements when compared to the original stroller. The biggest difference, in my opinion, is in the aesthetics – The City Select LUX is a much more eye-catching stroller compared to the City Select. Other differences between these two strollers are captured in the table below.
Stroller type | Baby Jogger City Select LUX | Baby Jogger City Select |
Seating configurations | Twenty plus seating configurations | Sixteen plus seating configurations |
Fabric | Canopy and seat cover are made of a quality fabric | Canopy and seat cover feature a standard fabric |
Brakes | Features a parking and decelerating brake that will give you more control | Features a simple parking brake |

A Comparison of the City Select LUX and the UPPAbaby VISTA
The UPPAbaby VISTA is a highly-rated machine in the stroller industry. It is quite popular and it is regarded as the benchmark modern stroller. If you are wondering how the City Select LUX compares to it, below is how:

- The LUX stroller can be turned into a double stroller using a separately purchased second seat just like the VISTA.
- The LUX stroller second seat has a higher maximum capacity of 45 lbs. compared to the 35 lbs. maximum capacity of the VISTA second seat.
- The City Select LUX has got rubberized tires that are slightly better than the VISTA’s polyurethane wheels.
- The City Select LUX is heavier (by four pounds) compared to the UPPAbaby VISTA.
- The City Select LUX has got a brake that can be used for parking and for decelerating. It is a hand-operated brake. While the VISTA has got a brake that is for parking only. It is a foot-operated brake.
- The City Select LUX is cheaper than the UPPAbaby VISTA .
- Converts from a single to a double stroller; most riding options of any single to double stroller; 25 percentage more riding options than City Select, with the bench seat accessory

Conclusion of the Review
In my opinion, the makers of this stroller were justified in calling it the City Select LUX. This is because, from the features and the functionality of this stroller, I can tell that it is a brilliant high-end stroller that performs like a beast. Some of its most notable features include its versatility, maneuverability, and the fact that it is made using premium quality seat and canopy fabrics.
What to Consider Before Buying This Stroller
This is a Baby Jogger stroller. However, despite this is the name of the manufacturer/ brand behind the product. The stroller is actually not designed for jogging. So do not go jogging with it. Moreover, this stroller is pretty bulky. So if you are looking for a lightweight single stroller, consider something else. It is bulky because it has a heavier frame that can be converted to carry two or three kids at the same time. One more thing you should have in mind about this stroller is the fact that folding it is not a breeze; you need a bit of practice to get used to folding it.
